This instrument was built by Matthew Redsell and was his personal instrument for ?? years before he sold it to the current owner. Although the instrument was completely playable and probably moreso than most, he never actually completed it for sale. The soundboard rose was not installed [below] and he did not put his name on the nameboard [right]. The owner has documents and correspondence which establish provenance which will be included with the instrument. The keywell is papered in Flemish 'seahorse' design papers, the lid in tan Flemish ashgrain paper and the trim and soundboard surround in a traditional Flemish border design.
